The Moka Pot - Telford

We’re Neil and Steven, the owners of The Moka Pot formerly the old Post office, in Dawley Bank.
 
We searched for a premises and came across this characterful but run-down building. We both previously worked in Telford and thought it would be great to open up here.
 
In the initial phase of our journey, we faced many obstacles then to top it off, lockdown hit. At this point, we really felt like it had slipped away before it had even begun. The temptation was there to just sell up and move on…
 
After taking a step back Neil had a light bulb moment, ‘I like coffee. Let’s open a coffee shop!’ (Maybe he had watched Mamma Mia one too many times!). Despite some difficulties, we decided to bite the bullet and get the show on the road.
 
The planning and construction began and we started trading in December 2020.
 
After an amazing initial few months, our Winter project became more than just a short term plan as we invested further into the business and injected new life into the place. Trialling weekends only, to now trading 7 days a week.
 
It has been truly uplifting to see such an overwhelmingly positive response from the locals and a wonderful sense of community spirit in such a difficult year.
